FemaSeed in Trenton, MI

What is FemaSeed?

If you’ve been trying to conceive and are exploring fertility options, FemaSeed could be for you. FemaSeed is a fertility treatment offering a new advancement in reproductive care.

It is an innovative alternative to traditional intrauterine insemination (IUI) to help sperm get closer to where conception naturally occurs, the fallopian tube containing the ovulated egg.

If you’re interested in FemaSeed and want to meet with an experienced fertility specialist in the Trenton, MI area and discuss whether the treatment option is right for you, contact Downriver Obstetrics & Gynecology today to schedule a consultation.

How Does FemaSeed Work?

FemaSeed is a new fertility treatment that helps place sperm directly into the fallopian tube containing the ovulated egg. This IUI alternative may improve the chance of conception by ensuring sperm reaches the egg more effectively. You will work with board-certified gynecologists at Downriver Obstetrics & Gynecology to tailor the treatment based on your ovulation cycle and anatomy to give you the best chance of success.

The FemaSeed process includes:

  • An ultrasound to determine the best placement
  • Your partner or donor will provide the sperm
  • The sperm is inserted into the FemaSeed device
  • The device is placed through the cervix into the uterine cavity and directed to the selected fallopian tube
  • Using balloon technology, the device gently isolates the tube opening and ballooning the corner of the uterus for easier entrance
  • The device releases the sperm to the right spot
  • Device is gently removed
  • The sperm can live up to 72 hours and potentially fertilizes an egg
  • You will come for a follow-up visit to determine success

How Does FemaSeed Differ from IUI?

A standard IUI places sperm in the uterus and relies on the sperm to travel on their own to the tube. This new technology, however, can precisely guiding sperm to the right location near the fallopian tube and ovulated egg.

Am I a Candidate for FemaSeed

You will work with board-certified gynecologists  to see if you are a candidate for FemaSeed. FemaSeed is customized based on your ovulation cycle and individual anatomy.

Things like fallopian tubes, sperm count, medical history and more will be evaluated.

The board-certified gynecologists at Downriver Obstetrics & Gynecology will talk with you regarding your menstrual cycle and give you medication to increase your chances of fertility. Then, you will align the treatment with your body’s natural timing. This will give you the best possible chance of success.

What are the Benefits of FemaSeed?

Many have found success with this new technology. One in four women have become pregnant according to studies with FemaSeed.

  • Sperm is guided directly to fertilization site
  • Minimally invasive
  • Tailored to your own ovulation cycle
  • Adapts and works with your body’s anatomy
  • Office procedure
  • More precise than IUI
  • Natural approach to conception with body’s natural process
  • Less expensive, no ongoing costs

Is there Increased Risk with FemaSeed?

FemaSeed is a very safe procedure and fertilization still occurs naturally within the fallopian tube. The risk of ectopic pregnancy is not expected to be higher than with standard conception or IUI because the sperm is placed into the fallopian tube, not the embryo.

The body still naturally moves the fertilized egg into the uterus. This procedure works with the body’s natural process. You can talk about any risks or concerns with our board-certified gynecologists at Downriver Obstetrics & Gynecology
